Situated deep in the beautiful countryside at the heart of the South Downs National Park, Petersfield is a charming market town that has been blessed with a bypass - in the form of the A3 - so there is no through-traffic and life continues as peacefully and picturesquely as it has for centuries.
The centre of the town is the town square, where you will find a bustling market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Once a month there is also a Farmer's Market, showcasing produce and food from across Hampshire. These take place on Sundays - see the yellow sticky on the right of this site for upcoming dates.
As well as High Street shops, Petersfield has many inidividual boutiques ranging from high-end fashion to second hand records and CDs, and one of the most extensive second-hand bookshops in the country.
There are many and varied places to eat out in Petersfield, from the Michelin starred JSW to the kebab van in the town square. Have a look in the Visitors' Directory and see what takes your fancy.
And let's not forget - pubs. There are some great pubs in Petersfield. And the surrounding villages and countryside contain many cosy, traditional english pubs that will make you want to stay and sup a pint or three.
Petersfield is surrounded by beautiful countryside - so beautiful, they have made it into Great Britain's newest National Park - and many ridiculously quaint villages and stunning views.
